After more than 30 years in the world of finance — including 14 years living and working abroad in Kazakhstan — I reached a point where change wasn’t a choice, it was a necessity. I needed to find new purpose, new identity, and a way to stay in the game of life.

Since returning to Australia, I’ve taken a few detours on that journey. I became one of the oldest recruits to graduate from the Victorian Police Academy, worked as a bookkeeper, brewed coffee as a barista, and even washed dishes in an Italian pizza restaurant. Each role, no matter how different, taught me something about people, resilience, and humility.

Today, I’ve found my place operating the Bellarine Poker League — a community built around family, friendship, and the spirit of fair competition. Alongside that, I’m developing two online projects: The Tournament Director – The Definitive Guide, a movement to raise standards and understanding in grassroots poker, and Bitcoin Essays, my ongoing exploration into sound money and the future of value.

I write from the beautiful Bellarine Peninsula, where I live with my wife — and with Bon Bon, our black Labrador, whose loyalty and boundless energy remind me every day that life’s best rewards are often the simplest.
